Patents in Cameroon are regulated by the Bangui Accord which is managed by the African Intellectual Property Organisation (OAPI). Patents are one of the aspects of Intellectual property law protection in Cameroon.
Patents is defined by the Bangui Accord on Intellectual property right which is also applicable in Cameroon to be the title granted for the protection of an invention.
Communication of Descriptions and Drawings of Patents and Certificates of Addition in Cameroon
The description and drawings of granted patents and certificates of addition shall be kept by the organization which, after publication of the grant of patents or certificates of addition in conformity with Article 33 of the law shall communicate them on request.
Publication of Patents and Certificates of Addition in Cameroon
The organization shall publish the following details for each patent or certificate of addition granted:
- The number of the patent or certificate of addition;
- The name and address of the owner of the patent or certificate of addition;
- The name and address of the inventor, unless he has requested not to be mentioned in the patent or certificate of addition;
- The name and address of the agent, if any;
- The filing date of the application;
- A mention of the priority or priorities if one or more priorities have been validly claimed;
- The date of the priority, the country in which or the country or countries for which the earlier application was filed and the number of the earlier application;
- The date of the grant of the patent or certificate of addition etc.
